HOTEL TRIGLAV
Bled, Slovenia
Exterior of Hotel Triglav, Bled, Slovenia

Hotel Triglav is a charming family run boutique hotel located on the opposite side of the lake from downtown Bled and it is very quiet and tranquil. It is situated on a hill so has the most stunning views of the lake. It's only 15-20 minutes walk into Bled along the lakeside or a 3-minute drive. The hotel is in classic alpine style, furnished in a way in keeping with its history, but with all the comfort one expects from a good 4-star hotel. All the rooms are very well appointed and many rooms have lovely balconies with stunning views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. We strongly recommend to book a room with a lake view, it's definitely worth it. Odds are that you'll want to spend most of your time on the balcony staring at the beautiful lake and island. The bathrooms are quite spacious, clean, and very modern with beautiful tiles and a great shower. The food is very creatively displayed, beautiful portion sizes and really top quality meats and fish. Absolutely excellent, and well known locally. All the wines and beers are locally produced and the knowledgeable and friendly waiting staff are keenly able to discuss Slovenian food and wine. The breakfast is the usual sort of buffet style with great coffee, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts, nuts, jam, toast, cold meats, cheese, cooked sausages, cooked vegetables, eggs cooked any way you want, croissants and homemade cakes. The hotel pool, spa area and sauna are spotless and really elegant. The swimming pool is in an amazing position with a wonderful lake view - you swim towards the window looking across the lake as if in an infinity pool. It's really breathtaking. All the staff are welcoming and really helpful and attentive. The WiFi works without any issues, speed is great. There's a small private parking lot on-site. The hotel has a lot of character and history attached to it and is filled with antiques. It has been around since 1906 and has something special which is rare to find, you are made to feel important and so welcome. Plus, there is no other hotel in Bled that will give you the breathtaking views that you get from the Hotel Triglav.

GRAND HOTEL TOPLICE - SMALL LUXURY HOTELS OF THE WORLD
Bled, Slovenia
Exterior of Grand Hotel Toplice - Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Bled, Slovenia

Grand Hotel Toplice is a charming, old fashioned, five-star hotel is in a perfect location, right on the Bled’s stunning lake opposite the castle. The hotel is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of The World collection and it is evident why as the service is truly top notch and place a high value to small little things that make the stay extra special. Since opening its doors in 1850, the hotel has been host to many famous guests, drawn to it because of its timeless elegance, sophistication, and ambiance. In the downstairs hall are photographs of Prince Charles and Melania and Donald Trump. Other famous guests include American author Arthur Miller, Agatha Christie, King Hussein of Jordan, heart surgeon Christsaan Barnard, US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Paul McCartney's ex Heather Mills, former First Lady of the United States Laura Bush and Monica Lewinsky, a former White House intern best known for her affair with President Bill Clinton. There are 87 air-conditioned rooms, including 29 lake-view suites and one presidential suite originally built as a luxury apartment-home. The rooms feature private furnished balconies with table and chairs. Each of the rooms and suites has its own unique character. The rooms are quiet, clean and a little bit old fashioned with beautiful parquet floors, elaborate rugs with lots of red and gold trimmings, authentic antique furniture, wooden beds, mahogany wardrobes and paintings on the walls. It is historical not a modern luxury hotel. Each room has a bathroom with bathtub or shower, balcony, direct phone line, flat screen cable TV, minifridge, safe, air conditioning and WiFi. If you have the possibility ask for a room with lake view. The rooms at back have no view and face the road. No question if you can afford to pay a bit extra it is absolutely worth being lakeside as it changes the whole experience. The bedding is clean white and crisp and beds are very comfortable and have a contraption to enable you to adjust the mattress at each side of the bed. The bathrooms are well appointed with all one could wish for, but although the toiletries are supplied they are not the luxury sort you might expect from a hotel at this level. The breakfast is excellent; very extensive choices with wonderful fresh breads, very nice cheeses and meats, smoked salmon, all the usual fruits as well as drip coffee and espresso drinks and eggs made to order. They also have some nicely done sweets including the locally famous Bled cream cake. If you book half board be warned that the evening meal is a very traditional 4 course sit down meal which is a lovely touch and the food is great but it's not for everyone. Staff are all amazing. Always so welcoming, helpful and friendly. The spa area is well kept and totally relaxing, There is a wonderful indoor pool of natural spring water that is refilled and cleansed daily. It's maybe a little cold for some, but according to hotel staff, they prefer not to alter the natural temperature of the water. The saunas are mixed sex and no bathing clothes allowed however you can cover yourself with a towel or sheet. The WiFi is superb throughout the rooms and public areas of the hotel. There is free parking at the hotel and of course a lift serving all floors except the 5th. Overall an excellent and very luxurious place to stay in Bled.

VILLA ISTRA
Bled, Slovenia
Exterior of Villa Istra Bled

Villa Istra is a wonderful boutique hotel ideally located next to the lake and a bit outside of downtown Bled, but still in easy walking distance - it is a 10-minute walk to the town centre which is perfect. You can escape the hustle and bustle of town, but still have access to it with ease. The hotel building itself - more of a large house, actually, is very visually appealing both inside and out and has fantastic views across the lake. The furniture, fabrics and fittings have all been selected with the finest of taste and luxury in mind. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, modern, nicely decorated and most also have a magnificent lake view. The bathrooms are modern and well appointed, spotlessly clean and have lovely toiletries. There are also free WiFi, air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast is an extra cost but totally worth it. Eggs are made to order and there is quite a spread of other items including gourmet coffee and tea, meat and cheese plate, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, breads and rolls jellies and jams. The staff and service are exceptional, they treat you like family coming to visit and are available to help you with anything you may need such as travel tips, where to eat and what to do. They will even teach you some Slovenian if you don't already speak it and are happy to help you. The parking is free but a small parking lot can make a problem to find a space for your car in the highest season. In summary, Villa Istra is a beautifully renovated property with comfortable, well decorated rooms and gracious, helpful staff. The location on the quiet end of the lake cannot be beat. The price per room varies as each room is different but you will definitely get the most value for your money here versus most other luxury places to stay in Bled. If you are looking for that 'old world' charm then this place is for you.

HOTEL ASTORIA SUPERIOR
Bled, Slovenia
Exterior of Hotel Astoria Superior, Bled, Slovenia

Following a complete - and very impressive - makeover, the Hotel Astoria was re-opened in May 2013 and offers its guests the perfect combination of 4-star luxury at 3-star rates. Many hotels boasting with four stars have less to offer. It's a well appointed, comfortable hotel in a great location, perfectly placed for restaurants, cafes and shops and just a slow five minutes stroll down to the lake. It's also very close to the bus station, so ideal if you arrive by local transport. The hotel is spacious and very clean with great air conditioning. The whole building is well decorated. The rooms and bathrooms are not big but adequate, and the beds are very comfortable. From some rooms, you have a wonderful view on Lake Bled - you can see a lovely church in the centre of the lake which is overlooked by a castle on a spectacular cliff. The bathrooms are modern and clean with good shower pressure. The eat-as-much-as-you-like buffet breakfast is great, hot, varied and regularly topped up. There's fresh fruit, cooked to order omelettes or waffles, cold meats and cheeses, fruit, yogurt, cereals, nuts and dried fruit, different rolls pastries and croissants, juices, coffee and tea. The service and staff attitude is excellent and welcoming. The wellness centre is good but surprisingly for the large area, there isn't a pool. It does have two bathtubs (one indoor, one outdoor) that run alternatively. There are four different saunas and plenty of relaxation areas. The WiFi is excellent in the lounge and restaurant, though the WiFi signal is pretty weak in the rooms. They have free and very easy parking in their garage, which is awesome. All-in-all a great value hotel for the budget-conscious travelers visiting Lake Bled.

VILA BLED
Bled, Slovenia
Exterior of Vila Bled Hotel, Slovenia

Vila Bled is an elegant hotel full of character and history offering old world comfort and service. It is located right on Lake Bled and has its own boat house. It s also situated on the opposite side of the lake from where the restaurants, bars, shops, casino and large hotels are located so it is very quiet. The walk into Bled itself takes about 10-15 minutes along a paved path along the lakeshore. The views over the lake and the church that dominates the small island at its center are outstanding. This hotel reflects its history as Tito's summer residents. The decor is like stepping back in time but everything is clean and well maintained. The rooms are slightly dated, but clean, comfortable and functional. They are very generous in their size but unfortunately they are not air conditioned. The bathrooms are spacious and the fixtures in the bathroom are new and of the highest standard. Breakfast is comprehensive with made-to-order eggs or omelettes along with the usual meats, cheeses, fruits, breads, pastries, cakes and everything else you would expect. The terrace area of the hotel restaurant overlooks magnificent gardens and the most enjoyable picture book views of the lake and castle can be enjoyed while having drinks, afternoon tea, breakfast or dinner. The 4-course prix fixe dinners are superb, always including a soup, salad course, main dish and dessert. The staff is highly professional, friendly and quite helpful. The hotel has a sauna and a Turkish bath. On the first floor is a conference room with a large mural from the communist period covering the resistance to the Nazis in World War II and the triumph of the people under socialism. Tito's writing desk is on display. The free parking is onsite. The Wi-Fi is strong and stable. Despite its size the hotel only has about 30 rooms. In summary, a hotel highly recommended in all aspects, No place can please everyone but for the right person, this is a true gem. Fantastic location, helpful staff, charming atmosphere, wonderful steam room and sauna area. Vila Bled is definitely unique and we hope it stays that way.

HOTEL SAVICA - SAVA HOTELS & RESORTS
Bled, Slovenia
Exterior of Hotel Savica - Sava Hotels and Resorts, Bled, Slovenia

Hotel Savica is another great choice for your stay in Bled, especially recommended for families with younger children. With interconnected family rooms available, two children’s play rooms, a varied entertainment programme designed for children and use of the indoor pool and facilities at the adjacent Hotel Golf, Hotel Savica is ideal for families. The location is very good as the centre of town is just down the stairs and the lake is only 5 minutes walk downhill. The rooms are relatively large, clean and well put together. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The bathrooms are modern, well stocked with good quality toiletries. The A/C is a bit noisy but very welcome and the rooms are a very comfortable temperature to sleep in. The breakfast is buffet-style with a good selection of hot and cold: cereals, meat and cheese, rolls and bread and croissants, yogurt, fruit, scrambled eggs, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and apple and orange juice. Dinners are served at the adjacent Hotel Golf, The food is good, a buffet with 2-3 meats, 1 fish, 3-4 pasta, 2 soup selection. Plus salads, fruit and desert and ice cream selection. The staff is really friendly, always willing to help you. The service is perhaps more friendly than professional, but that is probably part of the hotel's unique charm. There's a nice sized garden to the side of the hotel with seating. No bar, no loungers – everything like that is in the Golf hotel, which you have free access to. The complimentary WiFi works extremely well, hotel-wide. The speeds are sufficient to stream high quality Netflix movies in the evening. There is also free parking right in front of the hotel, with lots of spaces. Lake Bled is a beautiful place that looks like it came out of a postcard, with lots of activities for families. And Hotel Savica is a terrific place to stay for families with children.

HOTEL PARK - SAVA HOTELS & RESORTS
Bled, Slovenia
Exterior of Hotel Park - Sava Hotels and Resorts, Bled, Slovenia

Hotel Park is a big hotel in a gorgeous location, close to all the amenities you need and of course the stunning lake! The proximity to the lake is excellent and there are shops under the hotel and on the front. A small shopping complex is just across the road as well. The shopping complex has a supermarket in it as well which was useful for souvenirs and snack. The hotel has some of the best views of the castle and the island with the church, so, if possible, try to get a room on a higher floor with a lake view which is just perfect. If not, there are still plenty of really nice public spaces to sit and admire the view. The hotel was refurbished internally around 2008 and the exterior in 2015. The rooms are clean and well fitted with a reasonable sized bathroom. The beds and pillows are comfortable. There is a fridge and safe in the room and the TV has international channels. Even though most of the rooms are a little dated, they are super clean and spacious which is very important for a good stay. The lake view rooms also have air conditioning. The breakfast is superb with a great variety of items you can choose from, both cooked breakfast and continental. The cappuccino from the machine is great, and the tea you can make is also good. The evening meal is also very tasty, the standard of cooking is not gourmet standard but nevertheless well prepared and worth 4 stars. Meals are buffet style, very tasty and hot as well. The choice is varied each night, soups and cold meats to start, hot mains and deserts and a range of cheeses and fresh fruit if you can manage another course. The staff is very attentive, pleasant at all times and very helpful. The swimming pool is excellent on the fifth floor, and free to residents but you have to pay extra to use the sauna. The hotel gym next to the swimming pool has floor level windows so you can exercise with an amazing view over the lake. The parking is free and always spaces available. The free WiFi can be spotty in some of the rooms but good in main areas. All in all, a lovely large hotel with a superb location. It's a bit dated in terms of fixtures and fittings but the facilities and lake view rooms are very nice and spotlessly clean.

HOTEL KOMPAS
Bled, Slovenia
Exterior of Hotel Kompas, Bled, Slovenia

Hotel Kompas is centrally located in an elevated position, only a five minute slight downhill walk to the town centre and the lake - and when you swim in the hotel's pool you can see the lake from the conservatory window which is stunning. The alpine style of the building is lovely and the hotel is very clean. The rooms are pretty large and the furniture and bedding is of a good quality. The bathrooms are clean but a bit basic. Air conditioning is poor, but most rooms have balconies, enabling you to enjoy fresh air instead. The balconies are small, but the view is superb. It's definitely worth spending a little extra to get a room higher up at the back of the hotel as they are quieter and have a good view of the lake and castle. It's also worth noting that some of the rooms on the front of the hotel are near the main road and can be a bit noisy. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, always with a smile and very kind to give recommendations of things to do and see. The buffet style breakfast is superb. Everything you could want and more from cold meats and cheeses to cereals, fruits, seeds, yogurts, breads, sausages, homemade jams, local honey and full English breakfast. Dinner is also a vast buffet and included lots of salad items, fish and meat and vegetarian options. There are some lovely little desserts too. It's great that the hotel has a spa, an indoor pool, a squash court, workout facilities and a rather nice bar area that connects with an outdoor patio area with fantastic views of the lake and mountains. The free parking is available on site - it is first come first serve and the parking spills into the street just outside the parking lot. The free WiFi is available throughout the hotel and it is generally okay, but the speeds are not great. All in all, the hotel is nice and has everything you need for a nice relaxing stay. Just remember it is more than 50 years old and some of the rooms and decor are a little dated however there is renovation going on in the lobby so maybe the rooms will be next.

HOTEL GOLF - SAVA HOTELS & RESORTS
Bled, Slovenia
Exterior of Hotel Golf - Sava Hotels and Resorts, Bled, Slovenia

Hotel Golf is the largest hotel in the Bled area, It is in a beautiful setting overlooking the lake but at least 100 fairly steep steps from the lake itself or an uphill walk via the road. From the outside, the hotel doesn't look great and it also doesn't fit in very well with surrounding buildings at all but inside is spacious and clean with large rooms. The rooms and bathrooms are spotlessly clean and linen and towels, soap and shampoo changed daily. There are tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge in the rooms. Air conditioning is only available in the lake view rooms and it's worth paying extra as the temperatures can get very high in the summertime . Staff will provide fans for non air conditioning rooms. The double glazing blocks any noise from the town on weekend nights. Families ask for connected rooms. The bathrooms are modern with large deep bath, over bath shower, basin, toilet and bidet. All the staff is extremely nice, charming, happy, positive, ready to help and their English is excellent. The food is very good. All meals are buffet style affairs. The breakfast is a delicious spread of cereals, meats, cheeses, hot food, pastries and fruit. It is sometimes quite busy at breakfast but the staff does a great job of keeping the tables clear and replenishing items that are running low. Evening meals have cold meats and cheeses and salad starters, soup, choice of 5 or 6 main courses with large choice of vegetables. Desserts are cakes, fruit or ice cream. As you serve yourself you can have as much of each as you like, mix and match as you wish, and return for more anytime. Fresh fruit is available always. The dining staff is very helpful and cheerful, clearing plates away as soon as you finish a particular course. A ground floor spa area is impressive and has great facilities, swimming areas, saunas, massages and terrace sunbathing. There are several different pools, all with bubbles and jets, as well as some relaxing hot tubs. There is also a water slide which is really fun for adults and kids alike. The pools are free to residents but you have to pay pay extra if you want sauna steam or therapy programmes. The treatments in the spa area are very good and there’s plenty on offer under affordable prices. There is free car parking for hotel guests and the lot is huge so finding a space isn't a problem. The WiFi is very spotty so if that is important to you be aware of this. The elevators are small and quite busy. Despite the name there is actually no golf course on site but there is one nearby! In short, the hotel is big and doesn’t look very special from the outside (as is the case for several of the big hotels in the area), but inside it’s lovely – very modern, clean and spacious. The rooms have all been renovated recently and the ground floor spa area has excellent facilities, swimming areas, saunas, massages and terrace sunbathing.

HOTEL JELOVICA
Bled, Slovenia
Exterior of Hotel Jelovica, Bled, Slovenia

Hotel Jelovica is a nice, affordable and budget friendly 3-star hotel located very close to the lake with only a small park between it and the lake. The hotel is next to the bus station. It also has a car park for residents. There are also some restaurants very close to the hotel. The rooms are nicely appointed, well equipped and very clean. It's worth paying the extra for a room on the lakeside of the hotel, particularly those on the top floor. The view is really fantastic. The double glazing does do a fairly good job at keeping most noise out but as there is no air conditioning, they may need to be left open on warmer nights. The good-sized flat screen TV has a lot of channels, there is plenty of lighting in the room and a safe. The bathrooms are small but clean. The shower works well and there is always lots of hot water. It is lovely to sit on the balcony overlooking the lake and looking at the flowers. Every balcony has a flower box and the cleaners are responsible for watering the ones for the rooms they clean. The breakfast is a buffet of breads, cold meats, cheese, salad, fruit and yoghurts but there are also mini pastries, cereals, sausages, eggs and bacon and sometimes veggie rissoles. In other words, something for everyone. The tea and coffee is included as is the fruit juice. The hotel also does an evening dinner that is very reasonably priced and consists of buffet starters and desserts and a waiter serves main course, chosen the night before. There are always four choices for main course - two meat dishes, one fish and one veggie. There is always also a salad bar in the evenings, two soups and several starters. Desserts always include fruit, ice cream, little cakes and mousses. Drinks are not included in the evening meal so you can pay for them each night or add them to your room bill. We think you would have to be a very picky eater not to eat well at the Jelovica. In the hotel it's definitely worth visiting the sauna and steam rooms and there's also a small indoor pool, a small gym for those who wish to work off some calories and a small outdoor grassed area with sun loungers. The hotel has excellent free Wi-Fi. Overall a good hotel with a very good location which is very reasonably priced compared to some.
