HABAKUK - WELLNESS HOTEL Maribor, Slovenia Habakuk Wellness Hotel is located at the bottom of the Pohorje hill/ski slopes in the outskirts of Maribor, at a distance of about 10 minutes drive to the center of the city. It's a little gem with great indoor and outdoor swimming pools, saunas, excellent room service, multi-lingual staff and delicious food. Especially the indoor pool is fantastic, possibly the best we've seen anywhere. The rooms in the older section of the hotel are more spacious with older design but very comfortable. The new section has very modern designer rooms that are slightly smaller but still very comfortable. The beds and bed linens and pillows are wonderful. The room service is great. The buffet breakfast is also great, good selection and good quality with great service. The staff in general is very friendly, helpful and willing to accommodate your expectations. The free Wi-Fi connection is strong, even at peak hours and the parking is complimentary which is always a big plus. All in all, this is a wonderful hotel with a spa, pools, wellness centre and lots more. If your purpose is to visit and explore Maribor, the distance to the center is a bit of a drawback, but great public transportation is readily available just outside the hotel. HOTEL CITY MARIBOR Maribor, Slovenia Hotel City Maribor is a modern and well-appointed hotel with a great on-site restaurant. It's centrally located right on the river with beautiful views, only five minutes walk to the old town and less than ten minutes walk to the train station. Maribor is a small city, so everything is within walking distance. It may be very contemporary in interior design but is old fashioned warm welcome when it comes to the staff, who are very friendly and helpful and all speak perfect English. The rooms are modern, with large comfortable beds, nice pillows, lots of space, and great bathroom - really everything you'd expect from a good 4-star hotel. The rooms at the front of the hotel face on to a busy street, so if you are too sensitive to noise, ask for a room towards the courtyard and avoid rooms above the terrace. The complimentary breakfast is certainly adequate, nice variety of food if not fantastic. On the fifth floor is a wonderful terrace restaurant and bar - very welcoming and reasonably priced. The free Wi-Fi is available but only one person per room can be logged in at any one time. The parking is possible on site for a small charge (4 euros per day). BEST WESTERN PLUS HOTEL PIRAMIDA Maribor, Slovenia Best Western Plus Hotel Piramida is a fairly typical Best Western. The location is great, very near the old town square and ten minutes walk to both the train and bus stations. Yet it's not noisy because the hotel is situated on a very quiet street just off the main streets. The hotel is beautiful, very clean and well run. The rooms are nice sized with comfortable beds and air conditioning. The bathrooms are modern and of good quality. The breakfast is vast with cereals, different breads, meats, cheeses, hot items, fruit, drinks and more. There is a good restaurant and a small bar in the hotel and both are also reasonable with their prices. All of the staff are so helpful and friendly. The free Wi-Fi is not great and fairly slow. The parking is available on site for a small charge (5 euros per day). GARNI HOTEL MILENA Maribor, Slovenia Garni Hotel Milena is a small family run hotel located on the south western side of Maribor, very close to the Pohorje ski slopes (really excellent location for skiing) and at a distance of about 8 kilometres to the center of the city. The hotel is really well maintained and spotlessly clean. The rooms are of good size, with comfortable beds and an okay bathroom. The breakfasts are excellent with a great choice of food for all tastes. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. HOTEL BETNAVA Maribor, Slovenia Hotel Betnava is a lovely modern contemporary small hotel situated in a nice quiet area on the edge of the Betnava forest, about a 5 minute drive from the center of Maribor. It's very close to the highway so very easy to get to and there's ample free parking on-site. The rooms are on the large side, very comfortable, modern and beautifully presented with great bed and a lovely bathroom with a luxurious bath and a rich selection of toiletries. The breakfast is great with freshly prepared food every morning, a delicious assortment of fresh crusty breads and bread rolls and homemade cakes. The hotel also have a very good restaurant with a delicious and fresh food. The room service is great. The staff are friendly and always happy to have a chat with you and to assist you the best they can. There's also a huge fitness center (one of the largest in Slovenia) that guests of the hotel have complimentary access to. The Wi-Fi is free and of great quality all over the hotel. HOTEL LENT Maribor, Slovenia Hotel Lent is in a great location by the Drava river and just a few minutes walk from the old town, so it is an excellent place to stay. There are many nice restaurants, bars and cafes within a short walking distance. The owners made a great conversion of an old building so has a lot of character and is not just another faceless International hotel. The rooms are nice and a good size with very nice bathroom and shower. The beds are comfortable with great pillows and linens. The staff are very friendly and helpful and always around if you need something. The breakfast is adequate but nothing super special. The terrace bar is perfect for a relaxed evening and reasonably-priced. The free parking and wifi are an added bonus. HOTEL TABOR Maribor, Slovenia Hotel Tabor is a family-run business orientated hotel situated in the new part of town on the south side of Maribor over the Drava river, but only 15 minutes walk to the old town. The location is fairly quiet, but there are many bars and cafes on many street corners and there's also a large supermarket within five minutes walk. The bus stop is just outside. The rooms are quite basic but clean and adequate. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome with a warm and friendly approach. The breakfasts are nice with four different types of bread, fresh fruit, mueslis, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, various meats and bacon, many types of cheese, polenta (a traditional hearty porridge with a grainy texture), different jams, juices and more. HOTEL OREL Maribor, Slovenia Hotel Orel has the best location of all in Maribor since it is situated right in the middle of town centre with easy access to restaurants, shops, main attractions, and walking distance from the train and bus stations. The rooms are okay and clean, could be a little bit more luxurious. The rooms along street can be noisy at night, so best to ask for a quiet room. The breakfast buffet selection is fairly small but good and sufficient. There is no restaurant on-site, but there are many wonderful restaurants a short walk away. HOTEL BAU Maribor, Slovenia Hotel Bau is a lovely small to medium sized family run hotel situated in a quiet residential area. There is plenty of car parking space available and there is a bus stop just outside the hotel with with a regular service into the city. it is a ten minutes drive from the city centre (or a good half hour walk), about eight minutes drive to the Pohorje ski slopes, and most good restaurants are about five to ten minutes drive away. If you're travelling on business, most industrial zones are reachable within five to ten minutes. The rooms are larger than most other same class hotel, and the cleanliness is excellent. The beds are comfortable so a good night's sleep is guaranteed. The bathrooms are spacious too. The breakfast offers plenty of choice and all the staff are super friendly and helpful, do everything they can to make you feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for any of them. There is a spacious lobby/bar and business centre too. The Wi-Fi or cable is available free of charge.
