ROOMS & APARTMENTS SILAK 3 stars
Ptuj, Slovenia
Exterior of Rooms and Apartments Silak in Ptuj, Slovenia

Rooms and Apartments Silak is a charming B&B housed in a lovingly restored 800-year-old building situated in the old town portion of Ptuj only footsteps from the Drava River and down the street from the pedestrian bridge which leads to a gravel walking/cycling path along the river. It's close to all attractions in Ptuj and less than a minute walk from the best restaurant in town. The rooms are of varying sizes, but all are well furnished and comfortable and full of character. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are well kitted out and all so modern. All the rooms also have effective and quiet air conditioning. Just be warned, there is no lift and if you struggle with stairs, ask for the ground floor room off the pretty, tree-shaded courtyard. The breakfast is delicious, consisting of a range of cold meats, cheeses, lots of fruits, veggies and cereals plus delicious bread and some sweets. It is a self-serve breakfast buffet of 3 tables of a tasty variety of foods served in a room that has a lovely curved red brick lined ceiling in a quiet setting with soft background music playing each morning. There is plenty of seating at tables and even a counter. No other meals are provided, but there are a couple of good restaurants and a number of pizza parlours within a few minutes’ walk. The owners, Vladimir and Lidija, are extremely helpful, sincere in their efforts to make one's stay pleasant and memorable, and eager to share the history of the house and its restoration. They have created this delightful and charming accommodation from a shell handed back to Vladimir's family after Slovenian independence from Yugoslavia in 1991. The free WiFi works excellent day and night and the free private parking lot is available behind the building. We can't really say enough good words about this B&B. This is what we consider to be top-class accommodation; it has history, style and quality. It also has parking and is right in the middle of town. The owners and staff couldn't be more welcoming and helpful and the standard of accommodation in the beautiful old house is superb. Add the excellent breakfast and the very reasonable prices and you simply won't find anywhere better to stay in Ptuj.

MUZIKAFE BED & BREAKFAST
Ptuj, Slovenia
Exterior of Muzikafe Bed and Breakfast in Ptuj, Slovenia

Muzikafe Bed & Breakfast is an excellent centrally located artsy B&B run by an artistic couple. The location is perfect to explore Ptuj - the B&B is tucked away in a quite spot in the centre of the town, only a short walk to the main squares and the castle. The rooms are decorated with an artist's eye and great care. They are really quirky and fun to stay in and very stylish and relaxing with very comfortable beds and a compact but cleverly designed and well appointed bathroom. Each room is decorated in it's own unique way and they are all in a excellent condition. There's great double glazing and A/C in the rooms which is useful as some rooms are above the terrace and cafe. That said, the music is not particularly loud or intrusive. In fact, one of the joys of this B&B is the eclectic mix of music which plays all day. The terrace in front of the B&B is a wonderful place to just sit and talk with a glass of wine or cup of coffee. The breakfast is delicious and like the rest of the B&B very stylish - a mixture of cheese, ham, fruit and vegetables with home jams, bread and great coffee, A vegetable option is also available for non-meat eaters. It is served with beautiful presentation in the extremely stylish indoor cafe area - a wonderfully personal mix of travel photos, books and cool vintage furniture. The cafe itself is cosy, colourful and generally has locals and visitors drinking and chatting accompanied by the great music collection on shuffle. The staff are all young and very friendly. They speak excellent English and will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. They will give you directions and point you to the most attractive places to see in Ptuj, and the locals from the cafe are also a pleasure to talk to. There are also regular live music performances in the caffe venue, a magnet for anyone interested in music art and poetry. It's like a haven for art, and culture. The free parking is available at front upon request (at check-in they give you a placard to place on your windshield). The free WiFi works great throughout the building and even outside on the terrace. If you are planning to stay in Ptuj then you won't go wrong staying here!

PANORAMA ROOMS
Ptuj, Slovenia
Exterior of Panorama Rooms in Ptuj, Slovenia

Panorama Rooms is a lovely bed and breakfast set on a hill above Ptuj amongst spacious lawns and gardens of roses, cherry and pearl trees., It can be reached by a small road and is about 500 meters walk away from the town centre - it's a nice walk, allowing you to chill and relax after a full day in town. The place combines the best of a B&B and of a small hotel, big enough to be professional and offer good facilities, and small enough to be personable and comforting. The rooms are of different sizes, but all spotless and with lovely bathrooms. They have everything you need for a comfortable stay and the appliances such as TV and fridge are functioning very well. The breakfast is included in the room rate and it is splendid. A variety of hand-pressed juices from their own orchard, jams, purées, homemade breads and cured sausages, freshly picked vegetables, eggs from the 30 free-ranged hens cooked as you like and more. It is served in a lovely dining room that commands views of the Ptuj Castle. Metka, the owner, is both helpful and unobtrusive, not an easy thing to pull off but done with aplomb. She is speaking 5 languages and makes this a perfect spot to stay in Ptuj. If you need anything all you need do is ask. The grounds are beautiful and extremely well taken care of! There are lots of spots in the garden to sit with the wonderful panoramic view of the town. The WiFi is available throughout most of the property and it works pretty well. Ample parking is available too. In summary, nice and quiet B&B, friendly owners, comfortable rooms, superb views (hence the name) and a really delicious breakfast most of which is homemade and/or from own garden.

BED AND BREAKFAST ZIGA
Ptuj, Slovenia
Exterior of Bed and Breakfast Ziga in Ptuj, Slovenia

Bed and Breakfast Ziga is a centrally located B&B within walking distance of all tourist attractions in Ptuj. The location is very convenient for the historic town centre and restaurants, and the train and bus stations are just 5 minutes down the road. The rooms are on the small side, but well designed and with very comfortable beds and good A/C. There is plenty of hot water in the bathrooms and everything you need is in place. The rooms have double glazed windows, which is very important as the noise levels from the ground floor bar on weekends can be very high. There is a fairly sizable shared balcony that's great for sitting and people watching. The continental breakfast is quite adequate and delicious with great coffee. The owner Ziga is wonderful to deal with and nothing is to much trouble. The free WiFi works well all around the property and there is a large free public car park only half a minute walk away. All in all a nice B&B in a very convenient central location and good value for money. However, if you're a light sleeper and/or need a lot of quiet, go elsewhere.
