Hostels in Ptuj that we recommend
HOSTEL SONCE
Ptuj, Slovenia
Exterior of Hostel Sonce in Ptuj Slovenia

Hostel Sonce (which means Sun in Slovenian) is not a hostel in the traditional sense, as all the rooms are private and have ensuite bathrooms. Not only the rooms are private, they are spotless, all have laminated wood floors, really good A/C and a flat screen TV. The hostel is more like a nice 3-star hotel. The beds are very comfortable, with sunny linens. The bathrooms are modern and have powerful water in the shower with plenty of hot water. There are also lovely common areas where guests can gather, both inside in a common room where coffee and tea are available all day, and outside, in a flower and plant-filled patio with garden furniture and swings. The owners Iva and Ales are wonderful! They are very helpful and go out of their way to help guests enjoy their stay. Both speak other languages, English, German and Italian. A nice basic breakfast of tea/coffee and sweet croissants is provided. The location is just across the bridge from the historic center of town, at most a 10-minute walk to town, and in a very quiet neighborhood. It's actually midway between town and the Ptuj thermal spa and water park, so the location is perfect for those who plan to visit both the town and the thermal spa & water park. A bakery is located across the street and a supermarket down the next block. Plenty of free parking is available for those with a car. Also, the WiFi works really well. Overall, a wonderful hostel and also fantastic value for money.

HOSTEL KURENT
Ptuj, Slovenia
Exterior of Hostel Kurent in Ptuj Slovenia

Hostel Kurent is a newly reopened hostel under new management that is clearly trying hard to make a nice budget-oriented place to stay in Ptuj. The location is great and central, very close to the old part of town, which is wonderful for exploring with the castle and monastery located there also. The rooms are all clean and nicely decorated and have private bathrooms, unless you take a dorm room, which has a shared bathroom. All the staff are super nice and very helpful and always willing to help out with directions and local info. The atmosphere is good, with a lovely common area where you can meet many travelers and you also can enjoy your breakfast talking with many people. The free Wi-Fi and free public parking are also big pluses.
