Bled, Slovenia Garden Village Bled is a very unique and very environmentally friendly place to stay. It is an eco-tourism resort that falls somewhere in between hotels and camping, with large glamping tents and wooden tree houses at its core. The resort opened in summer 2014 and is located a mere 5 minute walk to Lake Bled. There are four different types of accommodation options in the resort: glamping tents, tree houses, pier tents and apartments. Each glamping tent has two bedrooms (one on the main floor, one loft), dining table, fridge, bathroom, couch, private hot tub and backyard. Each tree house consists of two bedrooms (one on the main floor, one loft), dining table, fridge, bathroom, couch, private hot tub and hammock. The pier tents have one queen bed and private outdoor space overlooking the stream. The apartments have two bedrooms (one on the main floor, one loft), dining table, kitchenette, bathroom and jacuzzi in main room. The prices are €80 a night and up, depending on date of stay and accommodation choice. Perhaps the most impressive part of the resort is how much effort has been put in to make it environmentally friendly. Wherever you look there are beautiful vegetable gardens (which you can be sure will be included in your dinner later), recycling areas, natural building materials and even grass on the tables. The dining is an experience in itself. Featuring a well-priced menu, you can enjoy local specialties such as calf carpaccio and Piran sea bass, or order a multi-course chef’s tasting menu. The atmosphere in the resort is fantastic and there are many activities that can be enjoyed in the resort, including access to a therapeutic Finnish sauna, ping-pong, darts, board games, swimming and a playground. Don’t miss the tasting corner at the resort’s Green Shop, where you can try local products such as wild jam, Kostel brandy, honey and Slovenian whiskey for free. Car and bike rentals are also available. The free WiFi works well and fast in and around the pool and restaurant area but is quite poor and slow in the tree houses and tents. All in all, the Garden Village resort is a delightful escape from the real world and a fantastic hybrid of luxury and nature. The place feels more like something out of Robinson Crusoe than a hotel, but is a truly unforgettable, relaxing place that you will likely never want to leave. It's great for couples and families - young and school age children will think of this as a dream come true. Ribno, Bled, Slovenia Glamping Ribno is a lovely glamping site offering six cozy tree houses/cabins built under the trees in a spruce forest on the outskirts of Ribno village, a 30 minute brisk walk, or 5 minute car drive from Lake Bled. Each of the cabins is heated and can sleep four people. The cabins are perfectly designed to fit in everything you need, they are very clean and modern and super cute. The room has a flat screen TV, a little seating and eating area, complimentary water and apple juice and a dried fruit and nut basket. The beds are really comfortable and the linens are perfect. Plug points are in very convenient locations and there are reading lamps on the side of the beds. On the deck of each cabin there's a wonderful wood fired hot tub, which is so relaxing and perfect for enjoying the stillness of the forest an the views of the Sava river that flows next to the site. Each cabin has its own bathroom located in a separate block about 80 meters away. The bathrooms are very modern and well equipped which is a big plus, They are hotel standards and the shower is very hot and powerful. A superb breakfast with a good variety of hot and cold foods and tons of continental breakfast options is available and can be served in the nearby hotel or delivered to the house in the morning upon request. The staff are welcoming and helpful. The man who looks after the hot tub fires is lovely and helpful and loves to give tips for managing the log fire to keep it warm. The glamping site also has a nice resting area with sun lounges, a sauna, a massage parlor, and a common area with a fireplace. There is free WiFi but it's very slow and spotty. Overall, a truly wonderful glamping site. The cabins are so cute and cozy yet functional with all the amenities (TV/heater/comfortable bed/good bedding). Location a little out of Bled but fine with a car or bike. Location: Comfort: Cleanliness: Sanitary Facilities: Leisure Options: Staff: Atmosphere: Value for money: Free WiFi: Free parking: |
