Ptuj, Slovenia Centrally located in the quiet and charming town of Ptuj, the Hotel Mitra is a beautiful historical hotel with lots of character and a bit of luxury. Its décor is traditional with an attractive, flower-festooned pink exterior. The building has three floors and opened as a hotel in the 19th century. Despite its age, the hotel does have a lift. The location in the centre of the old town cannot be beat. Ptuj is a charming town that offers a lot of history and things to see and do, and Hotel Mitra is right in the heart of it all. Lovely cafes, restaurants and shopping right across the street, and the Ptuj Castle is up some stairs right around the corner from the front door. The rooms are well-maintained and spotlessly clean and have everything one needs, including comfortable beds, a fridge, flat-screen TV, WiFi and also character! Each room has a piece of artwork that goes with the room (signs are in the hall by the room number). The hotel is in the center of the old town so there is little external noise, but the windows are double glazed so things are nice and quiet when they're closed. The rooms are air conditioned, if needed. The bathrooms are well kitted out and spotless with a strong hot shower. The breakfast is very good, with cooked eggs and sausages in addition to the usual yogurt, cold cuts, cheese, bread, cereal, etc. There certainly is no excuse for going away hungry. The service is outstanding - nothing is too much for any of the staff who speak English and German. The hotel has undergone a makeover two years ago and has some wonderful facilities including the wine cellar, the wellness centre on the second floor and a lovely lobby area. The wine cellar is well worth a visit and recommends tasting some of their fine selection of Slovenian wines. Note that it's priced by the wine tasted, not a flat fee. There's also great al fresco eating/drinking/talking on the pavement outside in the summer months. Free roadside parking is available, but the spots are very limited and a bit small. The Wi-Fi signal is weak in some of the rooms, but otherwise works well. Overall, the Mitra is a fantastic place to stay while visiting Ptuj. The rooms and bathrooms are quite luxurious, the common spaces are lovely and the location perfect. The whole hotel exudes charm with a consistent style and a coherent aesthetic. Ptuj, Slovenia Hotel Pomaranca is a new and very comfortable modern hotel located on the edge of Ptuj, but only a pleasant ten minute walk to the town centre. It's also within easy walking distance to the Ptuj thermal spa and water park. The exterior isn't really particularly impressive, but once inside it's a whole different story. It's spotlessly clean, the rooms are modern, spacious and bright with very comfortable beds, great A/C and large bathrooms with big showers and good hot water pressure. There's an excellent restaurant attached to the hotel which provides a very comprehensive breakfast with cold and hot food and is a great place to eat at lunchtime or in the evenings. The food is delicious with generous portions for a very reasonable price. The staff is exceptionally welcoming and friendly. Nothing is ever a problem. The Wi-Fi works well throughout the hotel. There is plenty of parking space available and they also have a children's play area. In summary, a lovely three-star hotel, very comfortable and modern, in a convenient location and reasonably priced with wonderful staff and excellent food, A great choice when travelling through this relatively unexplored region of Slovenia. Ptuj, Slovenia Hotel Poetovio is a nice modern hotel located on the edge of Ptuj's Old Town offering comfortable accommodation with air conditioning which is certainly necessary when it gets hot. The position is excellent, 100 metres from the bus and 200 metres to the railway station and a 10-minute walk to town centre. There is a casino attached but there is no noise at any time. The rooms are immaculate and have the conveniences you'd expect from a good three star hotel - nothing fancy but pleasant and well maintained. The bathrooms are on the large side and well appointed, but the water pressure for the shower is a bit low. The building is well-maintained and everything is completely spotless. The staff is very friendly and helpful with recommending all sorts of restaurants and places to go see. The buffet breakfast is nice, but the choice a little limited. The WiFi works great in all of the rooms and common areas and is pretty fast. Plenty of parking space is available too. Overall. a great value for a hotel with modern facilities close to town centre. Some may not like it being attached to a casino, but it has no effect on the hotel. Ptuj, Slovenia The Primus Grand Hotel is a fantastic hotel in the Terme Ptuj spa resort and is part of the Sava Hotels & Resorts group, the largest hotel chain in Slovenia. Although the hotel may not stand out as picturesque architecturally, it has everything else going for it for an enjoyable stay in the Ptuj area. The hotel is situated about 20 minutes’ walk away from the centre of Ptuj and you can walk along the river bank path and over the pedestrian/cycle bridge to cross the river. The rooms are good sized and airy with a decent balcony, plus 2 loungers, and with a view of the Ptuj Castle up on the hill on one side or the peaceful countryside with the Pohorje hills on the other side. The bathrooms are large and spotless. The breakfast buffet is first class with excellent choice of everything and eggs made to order at the moment. The dinner is an excellent buffet with lots of variety and no need to queue as the food stations are well spaced and set in a way that many guests could get their food without interfering with one another. The wine selection is good too, and also reasonably priced. The on-site bar is lovely as are the staff there. We can recommend afternoon tea with a large slice of one their most delicious cakes. There is a wellness centre in the hotel, with spa treatments, saunas etc. Across the road is the large thermal water park with 12 swimming pools. Entrance is free to hotel guests. But despite this, the area seems very peaceful, as it is away from the main roads. If you arrive by car, there is lots of parking space. Ptuj, Slovenia Park Hotel Ptuj is a four-star boutique hotel housed in a historic building just on the edge of Ptuj's old town centre. The building is a handsome large townhouse on a small main road. Most of the sights are within walking distance, and those that are not are connected by bus. If arriving by car, there is a small parking area for a few cars right outside. Interior decor is classic and suits the age and style of the building. The rooms are well kept and tastefully decorated. The bathrooms are well appointed and the showers have good pressure. There is bit traffic noise from the road that could be problematic to some. The breakfast is quite nice with made-to-order eggs and a selection of bread, spreads, meats, cheeses, yogurt, and juices. The staff are all so helpful and friendly making you feel welcome and valued. The WiFi works really well in the rooms. Overall, a very nice old hotel that has a lot of character but needs some upgrading.
