Thermal spas, or Terme as they are called in Slovene, are one of Slovenia’s most appealing features and a large and very important component of the tourism industry in the country. There is nothing quite as relaxing as visiting a thermal spa, where warm, healing waters send good health shooting through your body. Thermal spas can restore your spirit whilst they renew your skin, hair and overall well-being.
Spa and wellness tourism has a very long tradition in Slovenia, dating back to at least 1228 when the Dolenjske Toplice thermal baths were first mentioned in written sources. Currently, there are 15 thermal spas and resorts in the country, the vast majority of them in the eastern half of Slovenia. They offer curative and preventative health programmes, aqua-parks, beauty parlours, gyms, recreational facilities and more.
Thermal spas in Slovenia also have their own accommodation, ranging from ultra-modern hotels to holiday homes and even camping and glamping sites.
Thermal spas are usually located in wonderfully scenic locations and are a fantastic place to rest and unwind. What’s more, a trip to the spa is perfect for any time of year. So, why not include a visit to a thermal spa in your Slovenia itinerary?
Below you’ll find details (in no particular order) of some of the best and most notable thermal spas in Slovenia and the services they offer.
