Ukanc, Bohinj, Slovenia Vila Park Inn is a wonderful family run guest house situated in a tranquil setting at the far end of the Bohinj lake with the beautiful Savica stream at the end of the garden. The place has been beautifully renovated inside using very high quality fixtures and fittings and it feels more like a small boutique hotel than a traditional inn/guest house - it's comfortable, modern and spotlessly clean throughout. The rooms are beautifully appointed with great amenities and they all have balconies with fantastic views. The bathrooms are modern and immaculate. The breakfast is buffet but has everything you could possibly want unless you are a total snob: cold meats, cheeses, cereals, range of breads, fruit, yoghurt, eggs and pastries. If you are half board, the evening meals are brilliant - a mixture of Slovenian food and others and with four courses each night you won't go hungry: a small starter followed by soup, main meal and dessert. Both the owner Jana and staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating, full of good information and local knowledge. The free wifi and free parking are a plus too. The area is very popular due to its beautiful unspoiled nature with one of the most imposing parts of the valley being Lake Bohinj, the largest of the Slovenian lakes. There are several small villages and hamlets in Bohinj with the largest one being Bohinjska Bistrica. The villages that lie in the immediate vicinity of the lake are Ribcev Laz, Ukanc and Stara Fuzina. |
