The Slovenian Countryside Is Beautiful In Spring, When The Crimson Clover Fields Bloom Scarlet Red

One might think a field of crimson clover was planted purely for aesthetic appeal, but this little plant is a tough workhorse in agriculture and in the last few years, crimson clover is also becoming an important source of nectar for honeybees and other pollinators in Slovenia.

Visit The Land Of Dwarfs In Jelovo

In the small and, until recently, almost unknown village of Jelovo in eastern Slovenia there’s a magical fairy tale place where dwarfs and other creatures live.

There are currently more than 500 dwarf figures and additional 1500 figures of animals and other fairy tale creatures on an idyllic hillside estate next to the forest owned by Marinka Zorec and Joze Vitasovic.

Spring Has Arrived To The Kozjansko & Obsotelje Region

The beautiful spring has finally arrived to Kozjansko & Obsotelje, a very scenic but still undiscovered hilly region in the far eastern part of Slovenia.

The Kozjansko and Obsotelje region is known for its rolling hills, vineyards, forests, scattered farms and the most kind people you’ll ever meet.

First Sign Of Spring In Martinj Vrh With A Glorious Carpet Of Purple Crocuses In Bloom

Every year in early spring, Slovenia’s meadows and mountains explode with thousands of purple crocuses, covering the land with a fairy tale veil of blooms and petals.

The best place to see this explosion is Martinj Vrh, a small mountain village in the Municipality of Ziri in northwestern Slovenia. The flowers usually start to blossom at the end of March, but hands down the safest time to visit is early April, when the entire area is in full bloom.

But hurry – the crocuses will start to die after just two to three weeks, giving you only a short window to admire them.
