It is possible to reach Bled by train but the Bled Jezero train station is on the other side of the lake, opposite the town, approximately one and a half kilometres away. From here, trains leave to and from Jesenice and Nova Gorica every two hours or so. For a full timetable and price info visit Slovenian Railways’ very user-friendly website at slo-zeleznice dot si.

With an incredibly beautiful glacial lake surrounded by the peaks of the Slovenian Alps, an iconic church nestled in a tiny island in the middle of the lake and a medieval Gothic castle built on a 100-meter cliff overlooking the lake, Bled is possibly the most beautiful and remarkable Alpine resort in Europe. |
