Bled, Slovenia Garden Village Bled is a very unique and very environmentally friendly place to stay. It is an eco-tourism resort that falls somewhere in between hotels and camping, with large glamping tents and wooden tree houses at its core. The resort opened in summer 2014 and is located a mere 5 minute walk to Lake Bled. There are four different types of accommodation options in the resort: glamping tents, tree houses, pier tents and apartments. Each glamping tent has two bedrooms (one on the main floor, one loft), dining table, fridge, bathroom, couch, private hot tub and backyard. Each tree house consists of two bedrooms (one on the main floor, one loft), dining table, fridge, bathroom, couch, private hot tub and hammock. The pier tents have one queen bed and private outdoor space overlooking the stream. The apartments have two bedrooms (one on the main floor, one loft), dining table, kitchenette, bathroom and jacuzzi in main room. The prices are €80 a night and up, depending on date of stay and accommodation choice. Perhaps the most impressive part of the resort is how much effort has been put in to make it environmentally friendly. Wherever you look there are beautiful vegetable gardens (which you can be sure will be included in your dinner later), recycling areas, natural building materials and even grass on the tables. The dining is an experience in itself. Featuring a well-priced menu, you can enjoy local specialties such as calf carpaccio and Piran sea bass, or order a multi-course chef’s tasting menu. The atmosphere in the resort is fantastic and there are many activities that can be enjoyed in the resort, including access to a therapeutic Finnish sauna, ping-pong, darts, board games, swimming and a playground. Don’t miss the tasting corner at the resort’s Green Shop, where you can try local products such as wild jam, Kostel brandy, honey and Slovenian whiskey for free. Car and bike rentals are also available. The free WiFi works well and fast in and around the pool and restaurant area but is quite poor and slow in the tree houses and tents. All in all, the Garden Village resort is a delightful escape from the real world and a fantastic hybrid of luxury and nature. The place feels more like something out of Robinson Crusoe than a hotel, but is a truly unforgettable, relaxing place that you will likely never want to leave. It's great for couples and families - young and school age children will think of this as a dream come true. Ribno, Bled, Slovenia Glamping Ribno is a lovely glamping site offering six cozy tree houses/cabins built under the trees in a spruce forest on the outskirts of Ribno village, a 30 minute brisk walk, or 5 minute car drive from Lake Bled. Each of the cabins is heated and can sleep four people. The cabins are perfectly designed to fit in everything you need, they are very clean and modern and super cute. The room has a flat screen TV, a little seating and eating area, complimentary water and apple juice and a dried fruit and nut basket. The beds are really comfortable and the linens are perfect. Plug points are in very convenient locations and there are reading lamps on the side of the beds. On the deck of each cabin there's a wonderful wood fired hot tub, which is so relaxing and perfect for enjoying the stillness of the forest an the views of the Sava river that flows next to the site. Each cabin has its own bathroom located in a separate block about 80 meters away. The bathrooms are very modern and well equipped which is a big plus, They are hotel standards and the shower is very hot and powerful. A superb breakfast with a good variety of hot and cold foods and tons of continental breakfast options is available and can be served in the nearby hotel or delivered to the house in the morning upon request. The staff are welcoming and helpful. The man who looks after the hot tub fires is lovely and helpful and loves to give tips for managing the log fire to keep it warm. The glamping site also has a nice resting area with sun lounges, a sauna, a massage parlor, and a common area with a fireplace. There is free WiFi but it's very slow and spotty. Overall, a truly wonderful glamping site. The cabins are so cute and cozy yet functional with all the amenities (TV/heater/comfortable bed/good bedding). Location a little out of Bled but fine with a car or bike. Location: Comfort: Cleanliness: Sanitary Facilities: Leisure Options: Staff: Atmosphere: Value for money: Free WiFi: Free parking: |
Bovec, Slovenia Adrenaline Check Camping is one of the best campsites in Slovenia and it gets better every year. The site is well run, spotless, has a great communal area for eating and very clean toilets and showers. The camp is easily accessible from the road just outside the town of Bovec. You'll see a sign on the road and after you park the car, you walk up some stairs hidden in the tree and come out into this beautiful wide grassy meadow dotted with tents. The campsite is beautifully kept, clean and peaceful and has everything you could possibly need. They provide all the neccesities with a high level of comfort, unlike other camp sites. All tents are good and have proper bedding and duvets and pillows, but the tents on stilts under roofs are probably best. The 3 deluxe tents are especially beautiful but a bit pricey for a campsite experience! The toilets and showers are kept very clean at all times, the water is always hot and you never have to wait to use the facilities. In the centre of the camp, there is a communal kitchen with all the cutlery and pans if you want to cook but you can also get breakfast and dinner in the camp. The breakfast is great and varied with fresh local bread and croissants, cereals, jams, and hot water for tea or instant coffee. The evening meals are substantial and filling. There is also a great playground and loads of activities for the kids. The family and staff who run the site are always incredibly helpful and create a really friendly and easy going atmosphere. They go out of their way to make sure you have an amazing time. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, the campsite is only 100 meter walk to the river, hiking trails and a great point to begin rafting, kayaking or canyoning. There's a chance to organise all sorts of adrenaline activities thought the camp as well. The free WIFI is not the fastest we have seen but good enough to simple browsing the net. All in all, this is definitely the go-to place if you want to experience a nice outdoor atmosphere in Slovenia! We recommend it to anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to stay at a great place, enjoying a small scale, eco-friendly and yet very comfortable camping site with lovely people! Bovec, Slovenia Camping Vodenca is a small family run campsite in a beautiful location just outside of the town of Bovec. The tents are super clean and have everything you would need, including electricity, towels, cutlery and toiletries. The tents are in a quiet part of the campsite, amongst the trees. It is lovely to listen to the sounds of the Soca river at night, which flows about 200 meters from the site. The campsite facilities are excellent, the toilets and showers are spotlessly clean and showers warm. There is a fully functioning indoor kitchen which is free to use, a washing machine (a few euros to use), undercover washing lines, sheltered eating places and also a small bar. The owners, Sasa and her father, are friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. The views from the campsite are incredible, surrounded by mighty mountains of the Julian Alps! It is about a 20 minute walk into Bovec where there are a few restaurants and bars, a supermarket and a bakery. The location is perfect for exploring the Bovec area. The campsite also offers activities which they organise for you, including pick up/drop off from the campsite. The free WiFi works decent. In summary, a great small campsite in a beautiful setting with wonderful views of the mountains and all the necessary amenities, so highly recommended to anyone who loves nature, adrenaline, travel with friends or family.
