  1. Good for Slovenia! Now will everyone shut up about effective response only being possible on isolated Islands?

  2. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but Slovenia just does an estimation of the numbers of recoveries. Something along these lines: take the number of new cases from a fixed number of days ago (14-28?) and assume a percentage (95%?) have recovered?

  3. That’s amazing!!! Can you share specifically what the “lock down” was like for Slovenia? For example, were people being fined for leaving their homes? Or requires some sort of permit to leave? What businesses were considered essential, etc.

    1. Everything was shut except supermarkets (only sell food/beer/wine), chemists and hospitals. Pretty much only the bare essentials. No school. No fishing, swimming, boating, hunting, hiking. Stay in your bubble (only those that live in your house) and don’t mix with anyone outside your bubble. Borders shut except to Slovenian citizens and they have ‘managed 14 day quarantine.

    2. We’re Americans living in Ljubljana. Both my wife and I have family in Idaho. It’s been fascinating to see the response to the lockdown here in Slovenia compared to what my family has described in Idaho

  4. Really proud of how my country has handled this. It’s not a competition but feeling very privileged to live here right about now.

  5. But I’ve been told only islands can eliminate COVID-19. Or so the Swedish people have been telling me /s

  6. Not taking anything away but being a small country with just 2 million people sure helps in containing this virus.

  7. Wow that is impressive. I wish my country would have reacted half as well to this pandemic. Unfortunately our leadership has been missing for a few years now.

  8. Great job Slovenia! You can finally get back to a real normal. I’m very happy for all of you.

  9. Competent leadership and a caring public…seems like it shouldn’t be too complicated for everyone but not every country is blessed with those two critical factors.

  10. That’s pretty awesome, especially considering Slovenia is a neighbouring country to Italy in the northeast.
