APARTMENTS ARTEMUS BELVEDER
Koper, Slovenia
Exterior of Apartments Artemus Belveder in Koper, Slovenia

Apartments Artemus Belveder is a wonderful guesthouse type accommodation situated on edge of Koper's Old Town. The location is really superb, very close to everything in Koper. It is especially near the beach and there is a supermarket conveniently located behind it. There are 6 apartments, studios and rooms in the building. They vary in size and shape but are comfortable and very clean and can accommodate two to four people. They have been recently renovated with all mod cons you'll need for a nice stay, including excellent A/C, which is really needed in the summer heat. One of the apartments also have a balcony with a great view overlooking the harbour. The beds are very comfortable and the pillows and linens are nice and soft. The bathrooms are modern and well-equipped, including nice shower stalls with plenty of hot water and ample water pressure. The apartments also have a kitchen with all that you could need to cook your own meals. Everything is very clean and tidy. There is some slight noise from the harbour and from the street but you get that everywhere in Koper. There is no breakfast served at the guesthouse, but all units have a fridge, kettle and microwave, so if you want it's easy to prepare your own, or you could visit one of the many restaurants nearby. The owner, Tjasa, could not have been more helpful, friendly and welcoming. If you are not very familiar with the town of Koper and the Slovenian coast she can really give you some great tips on what to do and where to go. If you are arriving with a car they have a nice parking lot on the property which is a huge plus in Koper's Old Town. The free WiFi works well everywhere in the building. All in all, a good guesthouse to stay if coming to Koper with a car, very close to centre of old town and harbour.

GUEST HOUSE GARNI MIMOSA
Smarje pri Kopru, Koper, Slovenia
Exterior of Guest House Garni Mimosa near Koper, Slovenia

Guest House Garni Mimosa is a lovely place to stay located in the small village of Smarje, about a 10-minute drive from Koper. The grounds are well kept. There are 7 apartments and rooms available in the building. They are of different shapes and sizes, but all are air-conditioned, clean and tidy with a good bathroom and a TV and refrigerator. The air conditioning is effective which is very important in the hot summer months in Koper as temperatures regularly go above 30°C. The beds are reasonably comfortable - not quite hotel standards, but perfectly fine. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room at the back and not overlooking the road. The bathrooms are fine and functional, and very clean with towels and toiletries provided. The apartments also have a kitchen, which is rather small but adequate for a holiday stay. They have continental style breakfast which is pretty basic but absolutely fine to start into the day. The owner Tanja is a lovely person who is always smiling and friendly. She is eager to make you feel right at home and has good knowledge of the Slovenian coast and its attractions, restaurants etc, There's a nice little garden outside with garden furniture and you can also use a BBQ. There is also a nice playground for the kids to enjoy and even a small gym with good equipment. The free WiFi is fast and works very well in all parts of the guesthouse and there are a couple of free covered parking places in the backyard if you have a car. All in all, a nice wallet-friendly place to stay in the Koper area recommended for budget conscious travellers travelling by car.

In recent years, farm stays are growing among a number of travelers looking to reconnect with fresh air, local and organic foods, and a more simple and authentic lifestyle on vacation. Typical rates are similar to a bed and breakfast, and like a bed and breakfast, some offer delicious home cooked meals. Some farm stays also allow guests to participate in the daily activities on the farm if they choose.

Koper or Capodistria as it is called in Italian shows two faces to the world: one is a modern, loud and busy industrial part of the city with the only commercial port in Slovenia.
