PENZION KAPS Bled, Slovenia Penzion Kaps is a family-run establishment close to everything you need in Bled, but up in a quiet street. The accommodation is in a chalet style pension, scrupulously clean and backing onto a backdrop of mountain and woods with some pet goats in a field outside. Walk up the path at the back and you come to the Straza Adventure Park where you can ride up in a chair lift and come down in a toboggan. Go out the front and you can be down by the lake in 5 minutes, where you can get a Pletna boat out to the island or take a small train round the lake. The house is beautiful and well-built and has beautiful wooden furniture and accessories made by Peter's dad who is a carpenter. You can feel and see the love, quality, and craftsmanship throughout the penzion. The rooms and bathrooms are large, clean and very comfortable with lots of storage. The beds are very comfortable, the pillows are so fluffy and the blankets are soo soft. The breakfast room is airy and spacious with a garden view, and breakfast itself is excellent, with a good choice of both hot and cold dishes - fresh fruit, sautéed vegetables, cereals, bacon, eggs, cold meats, cheese, yoghurt, pastries and a lovely selection of breads. The penzion is run and owned by Peter and Darja. They are outstanding in every way, offering detailed tips for where to go, how to get there, how much time it would take, where to eat, etc. Good bicycles (real mountain bikes) are available free of charge. There is also the option of using the pool complex of the neighboring hotel, Parking is directly in front of the apartment with space for several cars. The free WiFi is very good in all rooms. This is an altogether a delightful place to stay while in Bled. PENSION BLED Bled, Slovenia Pension Bled is a very modern bed and breakfast type of accommodation located a little bit outside of the main part of Bled in a quiet residential area. Although it is only 15 minutes walk from the lake, it feels like being on the countryside with the cows in the field out the back. The rooms are large and well appointed with a fridge, safe and very comfortable beds and there's a nice large bathroom with a great shower. Most rooms are air conditioned and have a lovely balcony with a table and 2 chairs to enjoy the beautiful landscape. The breakfast is plentiful, a nice selection of meats, cheeses, fruit, yogurt, cereals, hot scrambled eggs, variety of juices and coffee whichever way you like it. Nejc, the owner is a lovely guy. He's helpful and friendly - exactly what you need. There is a lovely peaceful garden with a nice outside pool that is open from mid-June to mid-September. There is also a wonderful spa downstairs with sauna and Jacuzzi which you can reserve for yourself privately (no cost). There's enough parking space available for all guests behind the house and they have free WiFi that works in all areas, rooms too. Overall, an excellent and very modern pension/B&B in a beautiful setting outside of the immediate lake area, which means easy parking, quiet neighbourhood and an absolutely stunning view! OLD PARISH HOUSE Bled, Slovenia Old Parish House or Stari Farovz as it is called in Slovene is a charming and very unique bed and breakfast style accommodation in Bled. The whole place has an ascetic charm which matches its location right next to St Martin's Church, and its role as the Old Parish House. It has plenty of religious iconography around. The location is wonderful in the older part of Bled, away from big hotels. It has views of the lake from some windows. There is a stairway from the building/church which leads directly to the lake on its north side. From there it's about a 10 minute walk to the town center. It's also only 5 minutes from the main bus station in Bled and the walk to the castle leaves right from the square in front. The building is very old but completely redone. The rooms are simply decorated, but the furniture is sturdy and well made. The beds are super comfortable with quality linen, the bathroom has quality fixtures and fittings and everything is meticulously clean. There is no A/C, yet the rooms are quite comfortable sleeping with the windows open and the fan is provided in every room. If possible, ask for a room at the front with a view of the church and the lake. And try to avoid the rooms at roof floor which are quite small. The breakfast is included and provides a nice variety of options: freshly baked breads, meats and cheeses, jams, Nutella, hard boiled eggs, veggies, yogurts and cereals. It is served at two big communal tables in the dining room. The accommodation is run by two very kind and helpful ladies who prepare the breakfast, check in the guests, and operate the lovely little souvenir shop downstairs which is convenient to purchase a few souvenirs and gifts (liquor, ornaments, books, candles, etc.). The square in front is quiet and has lots of space for cars. The Wi-Fi is free and works really well. One cautionary note is that it's not the best suited for those with walking disabilities as there's no lift in the building. In summary, this is a charming B&B type of accommodation with lots of character, a tasty and filling breakfast, situated in a lovely location, and the service delivered from the lovely ladies in charge is excellent. VILA LAURA Bled, Slovenia Vila Laura is a lovely and a little luxurious bed and breakfast type of accommodation located in a perfect, quiet location, just outside of the tourist center of Bled, but only a 5 minute walk into town and the numerous restaurants, bars and cafes. The lake is about a 10 minute walk away. The property is extremely well maintained with lovely grounds. There are 4 rooms available in the building and all are spacious, nicely decorated and with a well-stocked bathroom with fluffy white towels and toiletries. The rooms are air-conditioned and have a mini fridge too. The beds are so comfortable and rooms quiet that a good nights sleep is guaranteed. All the furniture and fittings are brand new and of high quality. The breakfast which is included in the room rate is delicious with a great range of choices, hot and cold, It is highly unlikely you will leave the breakfast table without satisfaction as there is ample food and there are many options to tempt you. The owner Ziga is brilliant, extremely helpful and make you feel right at home straight away. He is full of local knowledge and nothing is too much trouble for him. There's a lovely garden where you can sit and relax on a sunny day. The free Wi-Fi works excellent throughout the property and there's plenty of car parking space which is always a plus. All in all, a fantastic bed and breakfast run by a very welcoming and knowledgeable owner who has thought of everything needed for a comfortable stay. ALPARTI MINI HOTEL Bled, Slovenia Alparti Mini Hotel is a small family run bed and breakfast type hotel with six rooms, The location is great - it's only a short 5 minute walk to the lake an even shorter walk to the local bus station. The main tourist area is about a 10-minute walk away and there are several restaurants and bars/cafes along the way. The rooms are more than adequate and are very clean, as is the property generally. Each room also has a small balcony big enough to sit out on. Some rooms have nice views of the castle and the mountains surrounding the lake. The bathrooms are on the small side, but functional. The breakfast is nothing special but adequate with a fair choice including bread, ham, cheese, cereals, yogurts, fruits, juices, coffee etc. No evening meals are available but there are many nice restaurants on the way to the town center. Anton, the owner, is very friendly and helpful and the staff very efficient and very attentive. The free WiFi works well throughout the property and the free parking is available on a grassed area in front of the hotel. All in all a nice bed and breakfast type hotel with nice clean rooms and decent breakfast. B&B MLINAR BLED Bled, Slovenia B&B Mlinar Bled is a wallet friendly bed and breakfast situated in a quiet residential area right next to a beautiful orchard. It is about a ten minute walk to Bled's town centre and the lake. There are several good restaurants and cafes within a walking distance, a supermarket is a 5-7 minute walk away and there is also a wonderful little bakery only a few hundred metres down the road. The rooms are basic but comfortable, air-conditioned, pleasant decor, TV, fridge and tea/coffee facilities, The bathrooms are small, but clean and practical and have a strong hot shower. Some rooms also have a balcony with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. The self-service breakfasts is good every morning, with a decent variety to choose from. The owner Bojan is helpful, always approachable and has good local knowledge which he is happy to share. The free WiFi isn't incredibly fast, but it works and the free parking is available in front of the house. With a decent breakfast and clean, well maintained rooms in a lovely quiet neighbourhood this is a good option for a budget conscious traveller. ROOMS RAVNIK Bohinjska Bela, Bled, Slovenia Rooms Ravnik is a delightful bed and breakfast located in the Bohinjska Bela village, about a 5 minute drive to Lake Bled and about a 7 minute drive to downtown Bled. The property is extremely well maintained and gives you a nice homely feel. The rooms are airy and spotlessly clean. The beds very comfortable and the quality of the bedding and linens is very good. The bathrooms are good sized and clean with good shower and plenty of hot water. The breakfasts is a delicious feast with eggs (scrambled, fried or omelette), and an assortment of cured meats, cheese, cereal, yogurt, breads, etc. The food at breakfast seems like it was cooked in your mom's kitchen. Ana, the owner is fantastic, lovely lady. She is so welcoming and friendly that she makes you feel like you are going to stay with close family for the weekend. There's a nice garden where you can relax with all the mountains around you. There are plenty of parking spaces in front of the building. The WiFi works fast and well. In summary, the rooms are pleasant and comfortable, breakfast is delicious and plentiful, the owner very welcoming, and the location is nice and quiet if you're visiting Lake Bled with a car. And best of all, it's a much better value for money compared to higher priced bed and breakfasts in Bled.
