Ljubljana Weather and Climate Information for Travel Planning

Ljubljana has temperate climate and four distinct seasons with fairly hot summers, cold winters, nice and pleasant spring and wet autumn. Spring lasts from late March to May. Summer lasts from June to early September. Autumn lasts from September to November. Winter lasts from December to March.

During the summer, the city itself can feel much hotter than coastal regions of Slovenia due to the lack of sea breezes that take the edge off the heat. The summer daytime temperatures are usually around 25°C, but sometimes quite higher, 30°C or more. However the summer months are also unpredictable, and odd days can rapidly change from sunshine to cloud. Spring and autumn temperatures are pleasant, with May and October often having temperatures above 20°C.

Ljubljana is quite protected from prevailing winds from the Atlantic and the centre of Europe, enjoying a position in a sheltered basin, exposed only to the south. As a result of this situation, the climate in Ljubljana can feel distinctly Mediterranean.
