Kranjska Gora, Slovenia Youth Hostel Barovc has the reputation of being the best hostel in the area. It is well deserved. The hostel is 15 minutes walk from the centre of Kranjska Gora, but this can be an advantage - it's peaceful and has an amazing view of the Jasna lake and the Slovenian Alps. The rooms are of different shapes and sizes, but all of them are clean and nicely furnished and have their own shower and toilet. The rooms above the dining area have an amazing view so make sure that you get one of them. There is also a nice lounge where it's easy to get in touch with other travellers. The free breakfast is well above average of the regular free hostel breakfasts, both in terms of selection and quality. Plus, the on-site restaurant is really good and well priced. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable of the area and always provide suggestions, advice and really understands the needs and the true culture of backpacking. The free WiFi isn't incredibly fast, but it works decent. Ample free parking is available right outside. Kranjska Gora, Slovenia Youth Hostel Nika is located at the entrance of Kranjska Gora, only 5 minutes walk from the village centre and there are many shops, bars, cafes and eating places within short walking distance. The whole place is very basic and outdated, but fairly clean and the surrounding is beautiful and peaceful. Some rooms have private bathrooms, some are shared. The bathrooms are small, but clean enough and functional. The breakfast is adequate for a hostel but nothing special. The on-site restaurant is decent and not too expensive. The best thing about this hostel are the staff. They are very friendly and welcoming and have some great knowledge on the local area. There's a nice garden terrace outside for the summer. The free wifi works decent only in some spots and some rooms. The free private parking is a plus. Kranjska Gora is a beautiful alpine village and the most famous Slovenian ski resort situated on the northern tip of the Triglav National Park in the Slovenian Alps, just a mere 5 minutes by car from both the Italian and Austrian borders. The resort isn’t the largest ski area in Slovenia but it’s the oldest one and one of the prettiest. It’s perfect for families with younger children and also for beginner and intermediate level skiers, with pistes easily accessible directly from the center of Kranjska Gora. |
