Ljubljana bed and breakfasts are family-run places that range from small homes renting out two or three spare bedrooms to large guest houses with more than a dozen rooms. In some cases, the owners of a bed and breakfast will include two meals with the price of the room – usually breakfast and dinner. Though not inexpensive, Ljubljana B&Bs are usually more affordable and almost always offer a better value for the money than hotels.

Ljubljana, Slovenia B&B Slamic is like a hybrid bed and breakfast and small hotel, located 5 minutes by foot to the pedestrian-only centre of Ljubljana and 10 minutes to the Triple Bridge area and the main Preseren square. It's also just 10 minutes from the bus/train station. The B&B is family run and most of the staff are family members. They are very helpful and friendly and it's clear they are rightly proud of the service they provide. The rooms are large and spotlessly clean with a nice contemporary feel. The beds are extremely comfortable with excellent linens, while the pillows could use some work. The air conditioning in the rooms is efficient, which is very welcome in the summer heat. Each room also has a flat screen TV with many international channels. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room at the back and not overlooking the main road. The bathrooms are very modern and the shower is easy to operate and powerful and the heated towel rack is a great place to warm up socks in the morning. The breakfast has a wide variety of choices including a nice selection of cold meats, cheeses, pastries, yoghurts, cereals, do-it-yourself boiled eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice and more. The coffee is superb since they run a coffee shop on the premises. There is a great, partially covered terrace that you can take breakfast on if the weather is good enough or you can sit and have a nice drink at any time of the day. Free WiFi is fast, and good enough to Skype with people in another country. There's also free parking available, which is very important in Ljubljana, as parking is a challenge in the city. All in all, a great place to stay with lovely breakfast and also a good value for the price. Ljubljana, Slovenia B&B Petra Varl Accommodation is located right in the centre of the nicest part of Slovenia's capital Ljubljana. The location is really perfect, situated at the foot of Castle Hill and immediately across the street from the open market in Vodnikov Trg. Dragon Bridge, Three Bridges, and Preseren Square are within easy walking distance as are many restaurants, historic sites and local shops. Despite that the house is set inside a courtyard so is very quiet. However, B&B Petra Varl Accommodation is not your typical B&B, as the owner Petra supplies the food and you make the breakfast yourself in your room (do-it-yourself breakfast). There is a small kitchenette with all you need for breakfast and coffee. The breakfast is a bit thin (milk, juice, yogurt, bread, sandwiches, marmalade-cups and butter-cups). There's also a very nice bakery just outside the entrance to the courtyard that is open from 6 am. The rooms themselves are very nice. There are 3 rooms, the yellow room, the red room, and the blue room. The room sizes are pretty much average, but the beds are comfortable and you can enjoy quiet nights sleep with no noise at all. The bathrooms are fine too, modern plumbing, nice and clean with towels and toiletries provided. The host is very welcoming and super helpful, always available to help or answer questions. The free WiFi is quick and reliable. Parking is a problem. You are able to stop long enough to drop off luggage on arrival and to pick it up on departure. There is public parking a few hundred metres away but it is expensive so we recommend parking at the train station which is about a 15 minute walk from the apartment. All in all, a lovely accommodation, very clean, quiet and well maintained and the location cannot be beat! Ljubljana, Slovenia Slovenian House Vida is a wonderful and very new and modern bed and breakfast type of accommodation situated on the outskirts of Ljubljana. Although the B&B is located in a somewhat rural area, it's a fairly quick 10 minute drive to the pedestrian zone of Ljubljana. If you're going by bus, it is a 2 minute walk to the bus stop and a 20 minute bus journey to the centre. It's on the end of a bus line (making it easy to remember where to get off!) and buses go about every 10-15 minutes until late. The B&B is in a converted textile factory, and they did an amazing job of turning the place into a beautiful venue for travelers. There are 12 rooms and apartments in the building. They are all new, modern and nicely decorated and furnished with plenty of space, and nice, comfortable beds. The bathrooms are huge with shower cubicle and plenty of extras. The breakfast room is in a beautiful old cellar, which is so cosy and welcoming. The buffet breakfast is excellent and provides a good variety of food. You can have eggs freshly prepared, sausages, cold meats, cheese, yoghurts, breads, fruit, jams, and more. Coffee and all sorts of teas and juices also. All very yummy and you just help yourself. All the staff are so friendly and helpful, giving tips of where to visit, where to park in Ljubljana etc., always greeting you with a smile. The WiFi is free and fast throughout the building. There is sufficient free parking in front of the building. In summary, the location is a little out of city, but the rooms are spacious, very clean with every comfort you need, comfy and sturdy beds, a charming family that runs the place, and excellent choice breakfast buffet. If this place was right in the city center, it would probably cost twice the price. This is a great option that is more affordable, and keeps you away from the crowds. Ljubljana, Slovenia B&B Julija is a modern and still relatively new bed and breakfast that opened its doors in 2016. The location is a little bit outside of the centre of Ljubljana in a quiet residential area. It is about 20 minutes walk from the Ljubljana Old Town. The B&B is not very fancy looking from the outside, but the inside is very nice in appearance and everything looks new, modern and spotlessly clean. The rooms are large and well appointed with a flat screen TV and very comfortable beds and there's a nice large bathroom with a great shower and plenty of hot water. All rooms are air conditioned and have large openable windows that let in a lot of fresh air. The breakfast is plentiful, a nice selection of cold meats, cheeses, fruit, yogurt, cereals, hot scrambled eggs, delicious fresh cakes, variety of teas, coffee and juices. The staff are super friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. The parking is free but limited, so make sure you let them know in advance that you are coming with a car. The free WiFi works well in all areas, rooms too. Overall, an excellent and very modern B&B with great rooms, delicious breakfast and very friendly young staff, but the location is a little off from the main part of the city. Ljubljana, Slovenia Penzion Tavcar is a typical bed and breakfast situated in a quiet farm sort of area but only ten minutes drive to the centre of Ljubljana. It's very easy to get into the city by bus as there's a bus stop 5 minutes walk away for those who don't want to drive into town. The building has 11 rooms and is in very good shape. The rooms are of a good size and well appointed and well laid out with comfortable beds and en-suite bathroom. The bathrooms are modern and spotless, but the water pressure is a little poor. The breakfast is a treat each day with a great range of choices, hot and cold, which cater for all tastes. There's an assortment of cold meats, cheese, cereals, yogurt, breads, grilled vegetables, eggs and much more. The on-site restaurant is great and attracts non-residents and we definitely recommend a dinner here too. The owners, Andreja and her husband, and the staff are friendly and very helpful with lots of good advice about the local area and how to visit the old town. The free WiFi works wonderfully and there's plenty of car parking available. In summary, a wonderful B&B located on the edge of Ljubljana - close to town, but with the feel of being in a quiet village; very clean, modern and has a really wonderful breakfast. Ljubljana, Slovenia Bed & Breakfast Atticus is a lovely B&B, centrally placed just near the Dragon Bridge. The location is unbeatable. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from the train station and 3 minutes into the Ljubljana town centre, on a side street just off the main market place and 2 minutes to the funicular up to the Ljubljana Castle. As the name suggests, the rooms are on the top floor (the attic) of a larger building. The B&B has been recently renovated, and finished to a high standard. There is a freight elevator for your luggage but you must be able to walk up a lot of flights of stairs, so we would not recommend it for those with mobility problems. The B&B has a mixture of rooms with and without private bathrooms. The rooms are on the small side but adequate and have a minimalistic yet modern decor, and look exactly like on the photos. The beds are comfortable and there is air conditioning, which is crucial in the summer. The rooms are quiet at night with virtually no noise from the street. The private bathrooms are small but well designed and very functional. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The shared bathrooms are very clean too and in a good condition. Each corridor has a male and female toilet to share between about 12 beds and one shower. The breakfast is served in the café on the ground floor between 8 am and 11 am. It's a cold buffet with cold meats, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, cereal and pastries. Fresh tea and coffee is provided by the staff. The staff are very friendly and helpful, making visitors feel welcome and comfortable. The WiFi is great and stable, every place in the three storey building has a connection. Parking is available but you have to pay and space is limited. All in all, this B&B is not for everyone, but great for some. Our advice is that if you are a large person or have reduced mobility, then other B&Bs would be better. If you are young, healthy and budget conscious and just need a room with a comfortable bed and very decent breakfast in a great central location, then this is the place for you. Slovenia's capital Ljubljana has all the right ingredients for the perfect city break. It's one of the youngest and most liveable capitals in the European Union. It’s a city with a medieval heart, a city of the Baroque and Art Nouveau, with numerous picturesque bridges across the Ljubljanica river and the vast green Tivoli park, which stretches into the very city centre. |
It’s quite hard to find a good breakfast spot in Ljubljana that’s comparable to western standards, especially because not many Slovenian’s eat breakfast outside.
