Hostels in Piran that we think are the best and worth staying at

Hostels are the cheapest places to stay in Piran. Most spaces and amenities are shared, but even if you’re not up for the cheapest option – a bed in a dorm room – you can often get a basic private room for significantly less than the cost of a low-end hotel or privately rented room. Competition between Piran hostels has grown over the past five years and there are now some really good hostels in Piran. Take a look below and find out which are the ones that we recommend and why!

Hostels in Piran that we recommend
HOSTEL ADRIATIC PIRAN
Piran, Slovenia

Hostel Adriatic Piran is a small hostel located on a quiet side street in the heart of Piran. It will take you less than 5 minutes to walk from the hostel to the main Tartini Square or to a swimming area along the waterfront promenade. It's also close to lots of restaurants, supermarket, bakery and bus station. There are two dorm rooms with 4 beds and also a few private rooms with a shared bathroom. The dorm rooms are quite small but there are only 2 bunk beds so it's just enough and they have drawers and lockers for every bed. The beds and pillows are quite comfortable. Some rooms have air conditioning, others do not, there's only a fan so on a hot summer night it's necessary to open the windows or the temperature gets very hot. The bathrooms are newly renovated and very clean and the showers are nice and hot. The hostel doesn’t offer breakfast in the mornings. However, it has a pretty large and well equipped shared kitchen with additional hot/cold water and ice dispenser (free!) to battle the summer heat. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will do anything to help you have a good stay, plus explaining everything about the town. There's not much of a hostel atmosphere in this hostel, you're quite isolated with the people in your room. The free WiFi is stated as accessible in all areas but doesn't work in some rooms. However it works well in the shared kitchen downstairs. If you have a car you need to park it on the recommended parking area on the edge of Piran where a free shuttle bus is provided that takes you into the Tartini square and the hostel is just a short walk from the square. Overall a very nice budget friendly accommodation, centrally located with excellent modern facilities and amenities for a hostel. The hostel’s cleanliness is also very impressive. Compared to the rest of the wallet-friendly accommodation options in Piran, the price/performance is very reasonable and you will struggle to find anything better.

VAL HOSTEL PIRAN
Piran, Slovenia

Val Hostel Piran is a very central hostel tucked in a little alley right in the heart of Piran, only 50 meters from the seaside and three minutes walk from the main Tartini square. It's well signposted and easy to find and there are several restaurants, cafes, bakeries and bars within 5 minutes walking. The hostel is housed in a historic but modernised building. There are several rooms with 1 to 4 beds and a shared bathroom available. The rooms are basic and a bit outdated in decor however they are reasonably clean and the beds are quite comfortable. The shared bathrooms are well maintained and clean. The staff are wonderful, full of knowledge and will help you with just about anything you throw at them. The included buffet style breakfast is good and certainly above average for hostel standards. It's a nice spread of meats, cheeses, cereal, yogurt, bread, etc. The shared kitchen is well equipped but can be a little crowded in mornings. The free WiFi is weak and works only in one side of the hostel - they need to invest in another modem/booster. The hostel is in a pedestrian area, so, if you arrive by car, you have to park right outside town in the central parking facility - it is a little less than a 15 minute walk, or you can catch a free bus into town that runs every ten minutes. All in all, a lovely hostel, with a warm welcoming and laid back vibe, lovely communal areas, a great breakfast included, comfortable dorm beds, nice private rooms, friendly helpful staff and great location to go anywhere in the town.

HOSTEL PIRANO
Piran, Slovenia

Hostel Pirano is a small, centrally located hostel that was refurbished and updated two years ago. The location is excellent in a quiet side street, only a 5 minute walk from the Tartini square and a 2 minute walk to the sea front, so everything is easily within walking distance. The bus stop is 3 minutes away and a bakery and a small supermarket are just around the corner. The hostel is housed in a nicely renovated old building and has 6 rooms. Each floor has 2 rooms and a shared bathroom. The rooms are basic with only a bed, a table, and a few shelves but comfortable with good air con and large TV with plenty of channels. The rooms on the top floor are the quietest, but you have to get there with all your luggage as there is no lift in the building. The bathrooms are shared but there are 3 of them for 6 rooms and they are modern and clean and there is plenty of hot water. Unfortunately the Pirano lacks any communal, social, or kitchen space one might like in a hostel. Actually, we're not sure that calling this a hostel gives the right impression - we think it is more a budget hotel. The WiFi is free and works well and fast. The staff are pretty friendly and willing to help, plus explaining everything about the town. Parking isn't allowed in the old town, but the hostel offers discounted parking in a multi-storey car park at the edge of town. All in all, Hostel Pirano is a good budget-friendly choice in Piran and the location is very convenient to center of town, harbor, restaurants, cafes, bus station and one swimming area.
