 Portoroz, Slovenia   Hotel Kempinski Palace Portoroz is arguably the most luxurious hotel in Slovenia. It is majestic and almost flawless with great facilities, cleanliness and service throughout is first class. Everything is done with great attention to detail and to extremely high standards. From arrival with immediate assistance with luggage and valet parking to a seamless fast check in, one feels immediately very welcome and valued as a guest. There is the older section and newer section. Both side are wonderful, depends on your preference - whether you are a person with classic or modern taste. The rooms in the newer section are more modern and larger and they all have a private balcony, but do not have full sea views although partial views are available. The sea view rooms in the older section are great too, but consider a park view room if you want to guarantee a peaceful night's sleep, because the sea view rooms at the front may be exposed to some late night party noise from the beach bars and cafes across the street. The breakfast on a sun soaked terrace in front of the majestic old wing is a hedonistic delight with plenty of choice. The staff are fantastic, charming and welcoming - they are simply exemplary at every interaction and reflect extremely well on management. There's a superb pool complex with a well equipped gym above. In summary, fantastic location, beautiful gardens, wonderful selection of restaurants with superb food and exquisitely renovated rooms. Everything is so luxurious - the stunning marble bathrooms, the lavish fabrics, the deep and super comfy beds, etc. We could go on and on but we think you get the picture and no detail has been left to chance. Portoroz, Slovenia  Grand Hotel Portoroz – Terme & Wellness LifeClass is a recently renovated 5 stars hotel. The location is as great as can be in Portoroz - right in the centre. The sea and all the restaurants on the seaside are just three minutes away, you just need to cross the road. It's really very convenient for all the attractions of Portoroz and it's just a few minutes drive to Piran which is also definitely worth a visit. The hotel itself is beautiful and facilities at the hotel are fantastic. All the public areas of the hotel are well decorated and maintained. It's is very modern inside, everything is in excellent condition, and it is a pleasure to be there. The rooms are very spacious and very clean. The sea view is fantastic but you also have a view of the main road which is usually pretty noisy until early hours so if you feel this would bother you then we suggest a room perhaps facing away from the front. The breakfast is terrific with a vast selection of food. The restaurant offers various dishes with big selection of starters, salads and fish or meat or pasta as main course. The service is excellent whether it's the valet parking or the restaurant for dinner. The hotel has two swimming pools with thermal water that guests can use it for free. There is also a private beach across the road. There is a well-equipped gym, kids play area and a healthy snack place. The cafe downstairs has delicious cakes and a nice seating area outside.The icing on the cake is the spa with a nice selection of massages and various treatments with beauty salon and hair dresser.  Portoroz, Slovenia  Hotel Apollo – Terme & Wellness LifeClass was completely renovated in 2014 and we must say they have done a great job. The hotel is part of a complex and is set a little back from the rest of the hotels and there's a little hill that you have to climb - not an issue if you are fit and mobile but really not recommended for the elderly or disabled. The rooms are nicely decorated, modern, fairly large and look brand new. The bathrooms are very nice and everything is very clean. The breakfast is included and the buffet is excellent with a good variety of choices. The food at the hotel's restaurant is wonderful and you can taste very good local and western food here. All the hotel staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. You can also take the advantage of a pamper in the spa, which is connected to the hotel. The free-wifi is consistent and fast and there is on site parking for a small fee. Portoroz, Slovenia  Grand Hotel Bernardin is a large hotel in a perfect location between Portoroz and the charming Piran and one can walk to both in about 15 minutes - it's a very pleasant and flat walk along the seafront in both directions. The hotel is part of a fabulous complex with many swimming pools, lots of restaurants, bars and shops. All the rooms have a balcony and look out to sea and it's desirable to be located as high up as possible. The rooms are of medium size with very comfortable beds and nice modern bathrooms. The breakfast is just wonderful with so much to choose from. If you don't find what you like, you are too hard to please. The service from all staff are professional, accommodating and extremely friendly. The beach is a concrete promenade with steps into the sea. There is also a full-service spa that seems to be of a very high standard. The free parking and WiFi are also a plus. Definitely a wonderful place for a summer vacation - swimming and sunbathing right at the base of the hotel and many great restaurants and bars on-site. Portoroz, Slovenia  Hotel Marko is a charming family-run boutique hotel - from a distant it looks a little old but when you step in it gives you that lovely boutique hotel feel. Although this is an older building, it's very well maintained and spotlessly clean. The location of the hotel couldn't be better, the beach is across the road and everything is within walking distance. The rooms are fairly basic but clean and comfortable. The sea-view rooms have a fantastic view and are well worth the couple of extra euros. Unless you're a very light sleeper, then ask for a room at the back. The breakfast is very good with a wide range of good quality food and can be taken on the terrace as well. The staff are so helpful and friendly, going out of their way to be of assistance. The front of the hotel is beautiful and has a lovely well-manicured garden overlooking the sea that is perfect for relaxing.  Portoroz, Slovenia  Hotel Tomi is a very friendly family-run hotel situated on a small hill above Portoroz, about eight minutes walk from the main strip of Portoroz, so it's quiet and calm whilst still being very close to town. The walk is all downhill which means uphill when you return to the hotel and it's a fairly steep climb back so it's not very suitable for anyone with mobility problems or anyone wearing high heels. The rooms are of average size, very clean but the wonderful balcony and amazing sea views more than made up for it. The breakfast is not luxurious but really tasty and fresh and provides everything you need. The on-site restaurant has a reputation of being one of the best in the Portoroz area. All the staff are very welcoming, friendly and efficient, and nothing is too much trouble. The pool is great with many loungers around and there's a nice rotating bubble feature that travels from a jacuzzi to the pool to the small children's pool and back. There are both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spa, gym and a large casino and night club. The main benefit of staying at the LifeClass hotel is definitely the access to the wellness services (massage, beauty treatments, sauna, etc.) available within the complex. The rooms are really nothing special but adequate, very clean with enough space and comfortable beds. The rooms on the higher floors are more desirable, have better views and are less noisy (the hotel is set back from the main road). The bathrooms are modern and well-designed. The hotel has clearly been refurbished recently to a very nice standard and has its own salt water indoor pool plus a separate children's pool and free use of the large shared outdoor pool across the road. The rooms at the front and sides of the hotel are much better than those at the back so be sure to ask for a room at the front or sides of the hotel - definitely not at the back. The breakfast is included and it is very good with everything a person needs to start the day. The hotel restaurant is pretty good as well. The staff are nice enough and helpful. The hotel has three indoor swimming pools with bubbles and one outside and a very nice and large sunbathing area with lots of loungers. As part of the LifeClass group the guests have access to the wellness services (massage, beauty treatments, sauna, etc.) available within the complex - at extra cost of course. The best rooms are on higher floors with sea view and a balcony. The rooms at the back are smaller looking at a brick wall, so it's well worth paying the extra for a sea view.
