The Improb has published a list of the top 10 cleanest countries in the world, with Slovenia coming in fifth place. Cleanliness is one of the most prominent factors to select a touristic destination and we couldn’t be more glad to share the news that Slovenia is in this prestigious list. People give a lot of importance to cleanliness and prefer to visit places which are environmental friendly.

The Improb summed up their decision with the following words: ‘Sandwiched by Italy, Austria, Hungary, and Croatia, Slovenia is a gorgeous country filled with breathtaking mountain landscapes. But the mountains aren’t the only impressive things about Slovenia – the entire country, in general, is a picture of cleanliness and sanitation. Towns and cities in Slovenia are well-kept, making it a joy to walk around in the streets as a tourist.’
On top of the list is Finland. Second is Iceland and Sweden comes in at the third spot. Also making the top 10 are Denmark, Slovenia, Spain, Portugal, Estonia, Malta and France.

Slovenjia! Yes very clean and much beautiful. 😊
So, so true! Had a great time in Slovenia seeing relatives and touring the country. ❤️
Superficially Slovenia is very clean. A visit to a well known tourist attraction or larger town will confirm that but fly tipping is a serious problem. I know of many hidden spots, some of them in forests or other countryside locations where people (especially builders or other tradespeople who end up with bricks, rubble, asbestos roofing materials etc) where people drive to jettison rubbish instead of using the local municipal tip.
So true, very clean and one of the most beautiful countries I’ve ever visited! Fell in ❤ love with Slovenia in July 2018 and can’t wait to go back!
Very true 💖…Love Slovenia
And with reason. We’ve been there last year. Very beautiful and CLEAN country.
Fell in love with Slovenia
We spent a few years on each holiday going to different places to see which one we liked the most to set up shop in, with some quite shocking results in terms of rubbish everywhere. We actually hadn’t planned on visiting Slovenia, and only went there to meet with South African friends whose Europe trip brought them that close to the UK.
We were stunned at just how clean the country was – parts of others were too, but usually once you’d left the tourist hot spots the filth just piled up (sorry, Macedonia, but your countryside is not a bin). Everywhere we went in Slovenia was pristine, and for the past 6 years of visiting, it’s become so we don’t even notice the cleanliness anymore, it’s just expected. Nice to see it recognised.
