Introducing Waterfall Rinka

Protected as a natural monument, it is the second highest free-falling waterfall in Slovenia with a 90-meter drop. Rinka Waterfall Review

Waterfall Rinka is situated at the far-end of the beautiful Logar Valey on the northern side of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, close to the border with Austria. The beauty is that you don’t have to hike for miles to see it. It’s a 10 minute easy walk up a forested slope from the parking lot to the bottom of the waterfall. It is also possible to climb to the top of the waterfall by a well-marked and scenic hiking trail – it is a moderate hike of approximately 20 minutes, just wear proper shoes because it can get slippery.

Collage of places to stay in Slovenia

The waterfall itself is absolutely magnificent and very photogenic. With a 90-meter drop (295 feet), it’s the second highest waterfall in Slovenia. The sound of the waterfall can be heard from quite some distance. As soon as the water hits the bottom, it goes underground (and reappears in the lower part of the Logar Valley as the Crna river). in 1987, the waterfall has been proclaimed a natural heritage feature. To the right of the waterfall, partly embedded in the cliff itself, is located a lovely little bar called Eagle’s Nest which offers refreshments, juices, coffee, and snacks. During the winter months of December through February the waterfall freezes and turns into a perfect playground for ice climbing enthusiasts.

The entrance to the waterfall is free, but from April to September (and at weekends in October) cars must pay €7 and motorcycles €5 at the entrance of the Logar Valey.
