Finefood Penzion Berc in Bled is a lovely small restaurant with only 25 or so tables that is opened only during the season (from May 1st till mid-October). The location is perfect, only a short walk away from the lake and downtown area, without being right in the centre of all the hustle and bustle. The setting is charming in an open garden with lit candles all around the tables and soft piano music is playing the entire time in the background. The menu is surprisingly extensive for a small place and there’s something for everyone. All the plates coming from the kitchen are a feast for the eyes – the attention to detail is wonderful and the portions are quite large.
The wine list features many great Slovenian and Croatian wines and the staff are friendly, passionate about their food and knowledgeable in making their suggestions. The atmosphere is cosy and the decor is very quaint and traditional. Price wise, expect to pay around €100 for two (two starters, two mains and two desserts plus wine). This is definitely on the pricier side of restaurant options in Bled, but compared to that type of meal further west in Europe, it is good value. Note that payment is by cash only (credit cards are not taken).
We definitely recommend this restaurant for a pleasant dining experience. The food is excellent from starter through to dessert and the wine just as you’d hope. Only problem with this restaurant is the waiting time for a table as it is very popular, so book a table in advance.
