About Bled Castle

Bled with its idyllic lake, picture-postcard church on an island, and a medieval castle clinging to a 130-metre-high rocky cliff is the most photographed place in Slovenia. The iconic Bled Castle was built by the Bishops of Brixen and first mentioned in the year 1011. It celebrated its 1000 year anniversary in 2011. The castle is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Slovenia. In addition to the stunning panoramic views of Lake Bled and its island and church, the castle has a museum, chapel, wrought iron and coin making facilities, plus a wonderful fine dining restaurant, a wine cellar, the beekeeping area where you can sample a variety of delicious honeys made on-site and a gift shop.
