The Church of the Mother of God on the Lake is located on a tiny island in the middle of Lake Bled. It has such a remarkable setting that photographs of it are regularly found in travel magazines.
The interior of the church features some fresco fragments from the 15th century, a large gold altar and part of the apse of a pre-Romanesque chapel. The 15th-century belfry contains a ‘wishing bell’ you can ring and make a wish.
