About Lake Bohinj
Lake Bohinj is the largest lake in Slovenia, known for being a quiet alternative to the smaller, yet more famous brother – Lake Bled. It has all the beauty of Lake Bled (sans the lakeside castle and small island) without the crowds. It is situated at the edge of the Triglav National Park in the northwestern corner of Slovenia. Some 80 kilometres (50 miles) northwest of Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana, it is a quiet and tranquil lake set among the peaks of the Julian Alps.
There are many ways you can enjoy Lake Bohinj, including walking round the edge, renting a boat and paddling on it, and taking a cable car ride up to the Vogel mountain to see it from above. The scenery here is breathtaking and there are even little stone beaches along the lake for catching some rays in the summer months.
