Introducing The Logar Valley Landscape Park
The Logar Valley or Logarska Dolina as it is called in Slovene is a typical U-shaped glacial valley located in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps in the far north of Slovenia, close to the border with Austria. Since 1987, the major part of the valley, covering an area of almost 25 square kilometres (10 square miles), has been protected as a landscape park.
Logar Valley Landscape Park Review
Located in the heart of the Kamnik Savinja Alps (close to the border with Austria), the Logar Valley is considered by many as one of the most beautiful valleys not only in Slovenia but in the whole of Europe and beyond. It is a U-shaped glacial valley, about 7 kilometres long and between 250 and 500 metres wide, carpeted with green meadows and hemmed in by icy gray peaks. The entrance into the valley itself is spectacular, as you drive past meadows on a winding road with stunning views of the majestic mountains of the Kamnik Savinja Alps. The valley will take you back in time, thanks to scattered old farmsteads on green meadows, and lonely colorful beehives along the road. It’s place to escape time and be one with nature.
In 1987, the Logar valley received protected status as a landscape park encompassing almost 25 square kilometres (almost 10 square miles). It is open year-round, but from April to September (and at weekends in October) cars must pay €7 and motorcycles €5 at the entrance of the valley/park. For pedestrians and cyclists the entrance is free.
All in all, visiting the Logar Valley is an unforgettable experience. And don’t forget to take your camera with you as the valley is extremely photogenic and ideal for lots of photos and videos – it is one of the most frequently portrayed alpine glacial valleys in Europe.

Overall Rating: Robanov Kot is a gorgeous alpine valley which is protected as a landscape park since 1987. What attracts visitors to the valley is the peace and tranquillity and the exquisite beauty of the countryside. Farming is still the main way of life here but many of the farms now also welcome visitors, who can spend the night, taste delicious local dishes, or have a glass of homemade liquor, all surrounded by pristine nature. |
Overall Rating: Waterfall Rinka is situated at the far-end of the beautiful Logar Valey on the northern side of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The waterfall is absolutely magnificent and very photogenic. With a 90-meter drop (295 feet), it’s the second highest waterfall in Slovenia. The sound of the waterfall can be heard from quite some distance. |
One of the most beautiful places on our earth.
I once stayed in a guest house there and climbed the mountain ❤️👍
